Would you Adam & Eve it?
Former Royal Marines Commando, Adam Abouzeid, to run 100 Kilometer London to Brighton Ultra Marathon on May 23rd
Adam Abouzeid joined the Royal Marines in 2006 beginning his journey as a Bootneck at the Royal Marines Reserve City of London unit.
After twelve months of recruit training he successfully gained a Queen’s Commission and joined the 2007 intake of Young Officers at the UK’s Commando Training Centre. Throughout his career he was assigned to numerous Commando Units including 43 Commando Royal Marines, The Royal Marines Armoured Support Group, 40 Commando Royal Marines, The Commando Training Centre, the UK’s Defence College and Joint Force Command. He enjoyed the privilege of commanding teams ranging in size from 7 all the way up to 230 on both domestic and international frontline combat operations.
Outside of work he has been married for over ten years and is the proud father of two. He is extremely passionate about keeping fit – completing the Great North Run in under 1 hour 15mins, the Thames Path 50km Ultra Marathon in under 4 hours, was on the Iron Major Cross Fit Team that smashed the all-time record which saw a team of Royal Marine & British Army Officers battle it out against the USA’s Marine Corps/Army team, finished in the top ten in the 2019 Jurassic Coast Marathon and has completed over a dozen 30 milers (two of which were on treadmills carrying full kit!) to name but a few.
Having worked with many servicemen & women over the years, many of whom have served at the very front of combat operations, he is extremely keen to ensure that those that carry the stresses and the mental and emotional scars of conflict are provided with the very best ongoing support both during and beyond their time serving their country. He has therefore carefully selected Rock2Recovery as the charity of choice to support by raising funds for.
Our mission is to save and change the lives of those in our Armed Forces, our veteran community, emergency services and their families who are affected by stress.
To inspire, coach and motivate towards a more positive future.
Founded and directed by Jamie Sanderson and Jason Fox, following long careers as senior ranking Royal Marine Commandos and Instructors, which resulted in medical discharges after diagnoses of stress illness and brain injury. Joined by a team of fantastic Specialist Change Management Coaches allowing for operational clinics across the UK. We strive to create positive change when it is needed most. Following our unique experiences, we recognise the need for rapid preventative interventions, specific coaching and assistance, including the provision of short and long-term refocusing support for veterans leaving the service with brain Injuries and mental health issues attributable to their period of service.
Over the course of this epic ultra-marathon Adam will no doubt endure excruciating pain along with some significant mental hurdles. However, this is a mere drop in the ocean in comparison to what some of our veteran’s have been through so please donate, every donation goes towards changing a life for the better.
An amazing community aiming to raise funds through various events for Rock2Recovery. Come and join the team:
