Dave Sparks

I have had my struggles with mental illness. Some days the struggles are there, sometimes there not, sometimes they creep up on me when I least expect it. But these challenges have made me more resilient, stronger and wanting to move forward.  My career ended in 2013 after 22 years, not of my choosing and that adjustment can still take some time, you can miss being around those people, miss feeling like you’re making a contribution.  I had some amazing treatment over a period of time from a specialist, however the dark clouds began to reappear, and this is where R2R stepped in…

I can’t really put into words what R2R have done and continue to do for my family and I, in supporting me move on from the past, but they have really made a difference in all of our lives. Thank you doesn’t really sum up how grateful we are and how special R2R are!  I am currently out in the Middle East with the borders still shut and really missing the family.  I really want to help R2R in these challenging times with a fundraiser and so having been nominated for the 25 press-ups in 25 days, so I am donating £1 for every press-up, and trust me I hate press-ups…
