James Pittam

Hi my name is James, but most people call me JP. I am a former serving Royal Marines Commando having joined the Corps in 1997.

I was fortunate enough to be awarded not only the coveted Green Beret, but also the the Kings Badge and PT medal during training.

I served at 40 Commando Royal Marines Taunton, Commachio Group Arbroath and 847 Naval Air Squadron Yeovil plus all over the world on various exercises and operationally including Sierra Leonne, Kosovo and Afghanistan.

I was born in Northwich Cheshire but brought up in York where I did most of my education.

I completed my exams in Penrith, Cumbria, The Lake District where I live now.

I now run my own business based in Penrith The Lake District, which is a multi-faceted Health & Fitness Consultancy offering various services under one umbrella including Personal Training, Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Remedial Massage, Podiatry, Food Intolerance testing and Fitness Classes.

In 2019 we were fortunate enough to pick up 2 prestigious accolades at The England’s Business Awards for Best Fitness Business In The North Of England plus Best Overall Business In The North Of England.

My hobbies and interests include Ironman triathlons, going to the gym, being active, cars, Moto GP, eating out, socialising, with friends, travelling and watching films.

I am keen to be involved in raising funds and awareness for Rock2Recovery who help current and former serving Armed Forces Personnel and their families who are affected by stress.

I have seen many of my Royal Marine colleagues suffer and seek help, including myself, and can’t think of a better Organisation to raise money for.

I also do this in memory of my brother Gareth Pittam who sadly took his own life at 22 while serving in the Army in 1998.
