EMMA:
I’ve been supporting Rock2Recovery & FUNdraising with Team Fortitude since 2015 mainly raising funds by being creative, making jewellery & baking. I’ve completed a mud run…..& found I really do love getting muddy 2019 goals! 2018 I climbed a BIG hill (pen y fan) where I learnt that I can push past my perceived physical limitations. I’ve taken on this massive challenge for several reasons. I’ve had the privilege to meet some of the people Rock2Recovery have helped. Spent time with the Inspiring R2R Team who work tirelessly to help others, while having Fun with my Fortitude Team Mates raising much needed funds. To give back as a civvy, in a small way to the service personal & their families who have given so much. I’ve watched the clinics grow & the difference they are making, 94p of every pound donated goes to Saving lives. Changing lives….it really is…. Also a deeply personnel reason I lost my best mate in September 2018 to a RTA, she was 38, a senior paramedic dedicated to helping and saving others. When I heard that R2R would include that reach to 999 service personnel I wanted to take on something big. The core belief of R2R & the healing powers of Music Mountains Water works and this challenge has become my Rock2Recovery. Why 2020? Simple I need a good run up to this challenge I have degenerative osteoarthritis & need a new knee- well both really (2019 hopefully) currently I can’t even ride a bike!!(pffftt) any training = Pain. It won’t stop me, it never does but any encouragement or tips would gratefully received as this is going to be super tough! Along with donations of course PLEASE nothing is to small ?It also means we can have a lot FUN raising vital funds, raising awareness along the way & hopefully hit with YOUR help that target. I couldn’t have got a better Teammate in Sam, she is a powerhouse when it comes to Physical challenges, great fun & is up for anything. We have some amazing stuff already lined up to get involved with so please join in the journey. My essentials for the trip coffee, a Bubble wand, water gun’s & a beat box as we Rock 2 the Coast.

SAM:
I’m a working mum and studying AAT, i love fitness but I like to have a purpose to it so I like to set myself challenges, in 2018 I took part in the London Triathlon as part of a relay team and swam in London Victoria docks, I have also taken up running which has shocked me as i never even run for a bus, but have taken 14 minutes off my parkrun time in 8 months, this is thanks to a local running club, which has shown me you can do anything you set your mind too when part of a great team and now as part of team Fortitude again I hoping that with my first team mate Emma and everyone else at fortitude we will Rock our challenge. I meet up with Emma in 2018 and she asked me if I fancied doing a challenge and I just couldn’t resist and know we will have fun organising the event and also doing it. We choose to go big as we wanted to help raise as much awareness for mental health and as much support for Rock 2 Recovery. The bike riding is some thing I don’t do a lot of at the moment but training will commence very soon, so heres to walking like John Wayne and many laughs to be had, and pray we never run out of coffee hahaha no seriously please pray we don’t.
